Continental Tool Group is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our corporate engineering team. The role of the corporate team is to drive all aspects of design and manufacturing of products to achieve goals for all of our many product lines, including new product lines that Continental Tool Group plans to offer. We employ a “Cradle to Grave Philosophy” that requires a hands-on approach from design, to process and cost development, quoting and sales support, to final packaging and delivery to the customer. The Engineering Manager will be instrumental in developing and executing the plans to do so.
Job Requirements:
10+ years of demonstrated Experience with 3+ years in a leadership capacity in the following areas Required:
1. Design for manufacturing products using tool steels, aluminum, polymers, composites, and alloy steels
2. Design of components for sheet metal, casting, plastic molding, or extrusion processes
3. Heat treatment experience
4. Design of products using gears including planetary gear systems
5. Geometric tolerancing
6. Applied manufacturing experience including machining, assembly, and related fixturing
7. ASME y14.5-2009 Drawing standards
8. Design of experiments (DOE)
9. Root cause analysis
10. CAD experience (Solid Works preferred)
11. Design control experience (In an ISO environment preferred)
12. Quality control metrology experience with calipers, micrometer, and height gages
13. Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Project
Experience in the following areas is preferred but not required:
1. Gear design experience
2. Design of rotary and/or turbine air tools
3. Design of products that use pneumatics
4. Solid Works with PDM Experience.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Develop 5-stage gate plans and schedules for the design and development of new products to meet company goals
2. Develop / maintain / change / enforce design control procedures
3. Track plans and schedules and report on project status including variances to the schedule, cost, and/or scope
4. Develop engineering specifications to be used in the design process
5. Develop design and manufacturing verification plans for both new and existing products
6. Interface with finance and accounting to develop and understand costs of new and existing products
7. Interface with production to develop production support plans
8. Interface with quality control to develop quality support plans
9. Travel to other facilities to meet with engineers to understand status and provide support
10. Interface with sales to evaluate new product / modification requirements and provide initial feasibility studies for new product / modification requests
11. Must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with multiple projects
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from a four-year university, with 3-5 years of related industry experience. Advance degree a plus.
