JOB SUMMARY

Our team develops and delivers best in class off-road vehicle dynamics performance to our customers through innovative suspension, steering, running gear and brakes design of our vehicles. This position will have a specific focus on maturing the vehicle dynamics team's quality, durability, and performance through requirements verification and validation development. They will be responsible for working with the vehicle dynamics systems engineers to develop and execute requirements development tests on suspension, steering, brakes and running gear. This role will also be a key interface from the vehicle dynamics systems engineers to the Polaris testing site to provide root cause investigation and subsystem performance data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of requirements and verification testing supporting vehicle dynamics performance, suspension, steering, brakes and running gear with guidance from vehicle dynamics attribute and design team.
  • Work with test team to extract meaningful data for the vehicle dynamics team from standard durability testing cycles to feed back into the engineering process.
  • Document consumable component wear (tires, bushings, ball joints, etc.).
  • Shock profiling at service intervals.
  • Ride performance at field test milestones.
    • Root-cause analysis and development of vehicle issues relating to the vehicle dynamics subsystem at Polaris proving grounds.
    • Development and verification of vehicle dynamics subsystem HALT requirements.
    • Eyes and ears to feed information back to the vehicle dynamics engineering team in Wyoming.
    • Work cross functionally with system engineers in the vehicle dynamics group to influence requirements.
    • Maintain shock development bench and shocks profiling equipment at Polaris proving grounds.
    • Organization, vehicle setup, and route planning of formal ride validation, technology rides, calibration activities occurring at Polaris proving grounds.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

    • BS Engineering Degree in related field (mechanical, etc.).
    • 3-5 years of related engineering experience.
    • Experience with various data collection systems (AIM, Motec, Thermocouples, Strain gauges).
    • Experience operating and maintaining a shock dyno.
    • Knowledge of standard automotive vehicle systems and components required.
    • Fundamental knowledge and experience in vehicle dynamics preferred.
    • Demonstrated communication with cross-functional teams.
    • Hands-on experience with vehicle repair and maintenance is preferred.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Ability to drive off-road vehicles is required, extensive experience driving off-road vehicles, ATV's, snowmobiles, or motorcycles is preferred.
    • Fast paced office environment
