Job Description: The Engineering Technician will play a critical role in supporting the design, testing, and implementation of electrical systems for large-scale projects. You will be responsible for a variety of design and field duties, including conducting field surveys, performing calculations, preparing drawings and specifications, and developing material lists. Additionally, this role involves estimating labor and material costs, updating GIS systems, and selecting equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in both the technical aspects of electrical systems and the hands-on execution of construction projects. Responsibilities:
  • Assist engineers in the design, testing, and implementation of electrical systems and components.
  • Perform various design duties including conducting field surveys, performing calculations, and preparing electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Select equipment, develop material lists, and estimate labor and material costs for distribution facility projects.
  • Support the analysis and design of distribution facilities for simple construction projects.
  • Update GIS systems with relevant project data and design updates.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, control systems, and equipment.
  • Conduct routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings for project implementation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure projects meet technical, cost, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations.
  • Provide technical support to other technicians and electricians, ensuring smooth project execution.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as an engineering technician, electrician, or in a similar role in the electrical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and equipment, with the ability to perform calculations and prepare design documentation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, technical drawings, and blueprints.
  • Experience in conducting field surveys, preparing material lists, and estimating project costs.
  • Familiarity with GIS systems and updating project-related data.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work at various job sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial electrical projects.
  • Knowledge of PLCs, electrical control systems, or automation technologies.
  • Electrical certification or licensing is a plus.
