Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking an experienced engineering technician to provide support for the Operations Test Group. Individual would work with a diverse team to perform assembly, integration and testing for highly reliable space hardware assemblies of low to high complexity. Candidate is required to have a competent knowledge of basic engineering concepts, principles, theories and techniques needed to deliver thoroughly tested spaceflight products, equipment and systems.
Essential Functions:
- Works independently under general guidance and direction on larger, moderately complex projects or assignments.
- Adhere to strict spaceflight test standards and execute procedures, document results, generate test reports, and create/manage electronic test data.
- Ability to train test technicians in safe and proper testing protocols.
- Support Clean Room, test and assembly area periodic preventative maintenance and cleaning activities.
- Support equipment performance verifications (validations, proof loads, etc.).
- Support the transport of equipment to/from storage facilities in Fort Wayne, and other Harris or customer sites.
- Support critical movements of flight hardware in support of test activities.
- Support mid to high complexity testing of electrical sub-assemblies and components, including electrical boxes, optical assemblies and cables at a sub-system, system and payload.
- Contribute to process development, continuous improvement efforts and problem resolution.
- Travel as needed between L3Harris sites and Customer locations for post-delivery support and integration activities.
- Work non-standard shifts as required during specific activities and overtime may be required.
- Overtime may be required frequently to support customer product testing.
- Overtime will be required frequently to support customer product TVAC testing.
- Work non-standard shifts or on-call support as required during specific test activities.
Qualifications:
- Requires developing job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 2 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain work in confined spaces or a clean room environment for long periods of time (> 2 hours).
- Ability to work holidays, weekends, and occasional overnight travel; work may include shift work.
- Ability to travel up to 30% as required to support customer product testing.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. This is typically based on having U.S. citizenship and successful completion and disposition of an extensive background investigation.

- Experience working with a variety of electrical and/or mechanical assemblies and equipment within the Space or Aerospace industry.
- Hands-on experience using a variety of hand tools including use of specialized tools. e.g. torque wrenches, micrometers, and calipers.
- Experience with written process and procedure protocol.
- Experience with bench-top testing of electrical/mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with ESD safeguards and contamination control.
- Experience working in a clean room environment.
- Experience working with computer systems and their use with test equipment operation; DVM, O'scope, DSA, Power Supplies etc.
- Experience with Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) with certification.
