Job Overview
The Engineering Technician will be a part of a team under the supervision of a Professional Civil Engineer. The Technician will assist in planning production and some design using the latest AutoCAD Civil 3D software. Projects will include commercial, municipal/public works, utility substations, residential, and schools.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform CAD modifications based on plan markups, sketched information, and verbal direction.
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and other Technicians to provide drafting and design support during planning, design, and construction for various types of projects.
- Must be able to successfully adhere to company CAD standards, files, details, etc.
- Prepare presentation materials and graphics for project development, meetings, and reports.
- Ability to stay on task and move to the next task with little oversight (self-starter).
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally (verbal and in writing) with other company personnel, including but not limited to Company Managers, Engineers, other Technicians, and outside contacts and clients.
- Ability to work independently at times and as part of a multidisciplinary team at others.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects at various stages at any given time (multi-task) and be comfortable with a dynamic project schedule that will require shifting job priorities with very little notice.
- Must be comfortable working with deadlines to meet project goals.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent. (required)
- Technical degree/diploma/certificate in CAD, Engineering Design, or related field (not required but preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (required), Civil 3D (not required but preferred).
- 2 years of experience in a civil engineering environment.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills, oral and written.
- Must have a valid drivers license and be at least 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations may be required.
