Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our growing engineering team as an Engineering Technician. This position will assist designers and engineers in various support roles, such as managing engineering responsibilities related to the MRP system, part number administration, and bill of material creation, organization, and revisions.

This position will also work directly with the engineering and operations teams and be responsible for CNC plasma/laser table nesting. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and possess excellent communication skills.

Position Responsibilities

· Create and optimize part nesting programs (ProNest)for plasma/laser cutting to maximize material usage and minimize waste.

· Create drawings and layouts for various manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, plasma/laser cutting, and sheet metal fabrication.

· Interpret engineering drawings to create and program flat pattern layouts of parts using required software.

· Collaborate with the production team to ensure nests meet manufacturing schedules.

· Troubleshoot and adjust nesting layouts to address material utilization and constraints.

· Maintain accurate records of all CAD files, nesting layouts, and software configurations.

· Create part numbers, codes, and bill of materials specific to assigned projects.

· Collaborate with engineers to ensure bill of material structure and accuracy.

· Process engineering change requests, updating all applicable documents and systems.

· Work with the procurement team to acquire cost/price information from suppliers.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.

Requirements and Skills

· Knowledge and use of MS Office with strong skills in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook.

· Experience and hands-on knowledge of MRP/ERP systems. Infor preferred.

· Experience using SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD is strongly preferred.

· Strong hands-on mechanical skills and knowledge to understand and contribute to improving fabrication processes.

· Familiarity with understanding and interpreting engineering drawings.

· Strong organizational skills for keeping track of various projects and schedules.

· Independent self-starter and team-oriented. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:

· Associate degree or certificate in Information Technology, Industrial Design, or CAD Drafting. Equivalent Industry experience and education may be considered.

· Experience working in an engineering and manufacturing environment.

· Experience with steel manufacturing process (fabrication and welding).
