Position Type: Support Staff Date Posted: 3/7/2025 Location: Rolf Olsen Center (High-Needs School) Onamia Public Schools 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21CCLC) Enrichment Assistant PositionJob Title: Enrichment Assistant Location: Community Education /21CCLC Reports to: 21CCLC Program Director Start Date: ASAP Job Summary The Enrichment Assistant will support the Enrichment Instructor Position in aiding teachers and students with classroom activities. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in educational settings, working directly with students to enhance their learning experiences. Tasks include clerical assistance, tutoring, behavior management, and facilitating communication between teachers and students. Key Responsibilities Student Tutoring and Behavior Support:
  • Work individually or with small groups of students to reinforce skills taught by teachers.
  • Assist in managing student behavior to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.
Classroom Support:
  • Assist the Special Education Assistant I with instruction, classroom activities, and preparing learning materials.
  • Supervise students in various settings, such as during transitions or breaks, to promote safety and appropriate behavior.
Clerical and Organizational Tasks:
  • Help maintain student files, including Individual Educational Plans (IEPs).
  • Perform basic clerical tasks such as copying, data entry, and organizing materials.
Communication Facilitation:
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers when needed.
  • Support language development by reinforcing concepts introduced by staff.
Other Duties:
  • Maintain confidentiality of student and family information.
  • Attend staff meetings or training sessions as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or assistant.
Qualifications
  • Interest in education, special education, or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude when working with students.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs.
  • Familiarity with sign language or a willingness to learn.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
