Job Purpose
Oversee the development and implementation of transportation, security, environmental, health, and safety programs . Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and Corporate regulatory requirements, keeping plant management informed on all EHS issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop procedures for environmental, health, safety, and security compliance with local, state, federal, and corporate requirements.
- Recommend actions and develop procedures for compliance with new and revised laws, rules, and regulations.
- Prepare and submit all required reports to regulatory agencies, maintaining all related records and documents, and interacting with agencies both verbally and in writing.
- Conduct internal audits for OSHA, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous waste, air programs, transportation, and training.
- Maintain current certifications and knowledge of the regulatory environment through workshops, seminars, and review of relevant literature.
- Act as the plant liaison with the local community, regulatory agencies, and other outside entities.
- Perform Job Hazard Analysis and statistical analysis of incidents and accidents.
- Develop and present training materials in accordance with CFR 29 (Parts 1910, 1903, 1904) and CFR 49 DOT.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Hazmat procedures.
- Manage and administer the security program.
- Oversee worker compensation programs.
- Manage property and casualty insurance auditing and reporting activities.
- Conduct safety orientations and safety meetings for employees, general contractors (GC), and subcontractors.
- Chair safety committee meetings to discuss issues, trends, and goals.
- Conduct meetings with third-party auditors such as fire marshals, OSHA, PPPD, ATF, DCMA, EPA, DEP, and insurance auditors.
- Respond to formal OSHA, DEP, EPA, and DOT investigations and participate in hearings.
- Oversee the first responder/medical emergency program.
- Perform required audits on disposal facilities and other contracted services where debris or waste is regulated.
- Maintain all permits in accordance with EPA, city, and county regulations. Perform annual audits of air and water permits to ensure continued compliance.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Health, or equivalent.
- Five years of experience managing environmental and health and safety compliance in a manufacturing environment, including:
- Maintaining professional relationships with regulatory agencies and representatives.
- Expertise in EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Experience in preparing and submitting permits and compliance reports.
- Workers Compensation experience.
- RCRA Hazardous Waste shipping experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
