With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together.Role Description:Arcadis seeks a NEPA Environmental Compliance Engineer to join our team in the New York / New Jersey area to manage and implement environmental compliance strategies for a large-scale tunnel transit project. This role requires a strong understanding of NEPA regulations and the ability to integrate environmental considerations into project planning and execution.Role Accountabilities:Ensure all project activities comply with NEPA requirements, including the preparation and submission of Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessments (EA). Oversee the implementation of NEPA-related mitigation measures and conditions.Develop, review, and manage environmental documentation, including compliance reports, permit applications, and environmental management plans. Ensure that all documentation is accurate, timely, and meets regulatory standards.Conduct environmental impact assessments to evaluate potential effects of the tunnel project on air quality, water resources, soil, noise, and ecological systems. Design and implement effective mitigation measures to address and reduce environmental impacts.Serve as the primary contact for federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Coordinate with these agencies to ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and address any issues or concerns that arise.Oversee environmental monitoring programs to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project-specific commitments. Prepare detailed reports on monitoring results and address any non-compliance issues with corrective actions.Engage with community stakeholders, including local residents and environmental groups, to address concerns and provide updates on environmental compliance efforts. Facilitate public meetings and presentations as needed.Provide training and support to project team members on environmental compliance requirements and best practices. Ensure all personnel are informed and compliant with environmental regulations.Identify and resolve environmental issues that arise during the project lifecycle. Develop and implement innovative solutions to mitigate potential environmental impacts.Required Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance engineering, with a focus on NEPA regulations. Experience with large infrastructure projects, particularly tunnel or transit projects, is highly desirable.Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certification is a plus.Professional Engineer (PE) license or certification in environmental compliance (e.g., Certified Environmental Professional) Key Skills and Abilities:Deep knowledge of NEPA and related federal, state, and local environmental regulations.Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex environmental data.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present information clearly to various audiences.Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.Proficiency in environmental assessment software and tools.Why Arcadis?We can only achieve our goals when everyone is empowered to be their best.
