Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Towers & Structures (NTS) has an opening for the position of Environmental Coordinator for the Decatur, AL facility. Duties include taking a lead role in environmental compliance at our greenfield and temporary operations facilities, driving permit applications, project management, training, maintaining required emergency contingency plans, and community outreach programs. As a Nucor facility, a focus of the position is looking for opportunities to improve our operations, culture, and environmental footprint.

The Environmental Coordinator will report to the EHS Supervisor and be a part of multiple teams within Nucor: NTS Group EHS and Nucor Environmental Team. Positive interaction with teammates to promote a positive environmental and safety culture is required.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

Four-year degree from an accredited university in environmental or a related discipline.

Environmental Compliance: The ability to initiate, lead and uphold safety and environmental practices, policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Communication Skills: The ability to listen to and understand information and expectations, and effectively convey information and ideas in a way that others will understand.

Organizational/Project Management Skills: The ability to be attentive to detail, organized, and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.

Analyze/Strategic Thinking: Experience in analyzing a situation and reviewing related information in order to identify problems quickly and accurately, evaluate options, make decisions and implement solutions.

Teamwork: The ability to work cooperatively and proactively to help others and work as part of a coordinated effort to achieve a common goal.

Preferred Qualifications:

Four-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, preferably environmental, chemical, civil, or a similar environmental program.

RCRA waste generation, storage, and proper disposal knowledge

Two (2+) years of experience in environmental compliance, air pollution control, waste management, and/or wastewater treatment operations. Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations (air, water, EPCRA, DOT, and hazardous waste).
