JOB SUMMARY:
With minimal direction continually performs professional work in all Environmental Health programs with specific emphasis in the Private, Semi-Private, Closed Loop and Non-Community Water Supplies and Private Sewage Programs. Participates in the planning, development, implementation, staff training and enforcement and oversight of these programs. Comfortable in a fast paced, high volume, multi-tasking workplace. Team oriented environment.
JOB FUNCTION:
Key responsibilities include:
* Coordination of environmental health practitioner staff assignments.
* Permit application reviews including onsite inspections.
* Staff training.
* Quality assurance and customer satisfaction.
* Liaison with other governmental agencies.
* Public education and maintaining specific databases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University with a minimum of 30 semester hours or equivalent of basic sciences acceptable to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
* Eligible candidate should be a licensed Environmental Health Practitioner with three (3) years' experience in Environmental Health and
* Preferably two (2) years' experience in a private sewage and/or potable water program and/or water laboratory.
* May consider an applicant without licensure provided the applicant has relevant experience and meets the minimum qualifications to become licensed within 1 year.
Other Requirements:
All Health Department staff are required to be up to date on the Covid vaccination series as determined by the CDC, including the most current booster from September 2023 as a term and condition of employment with the Department. In addition, proof of all vaccines are mandatory for employment with the Health Dept., including the flu vaccine.
