Job Description :

As an Environmental Health Safety Specialist, you will be instrumental in fostering a safe and healthy work environment. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety programs, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. Your expertise will be crucial in educating and training employees on safety procedures, promoting a culture of safety awareness, and investigating accidents to prevent future occurrences in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Program Development: Work with the General Manager to plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs that align with company goals.
  • Data Analysis: Compile and analyze statistical data related to injury/illness and non-injury incident reports to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Safety Documentation: Prepare written safety and health programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Safety Training: Deliver safety training to new associates, conduct annual safety training, and facilitate retraining to ensure compliance and awareness.
  • Safety Guidance: Provide guidance to associates on safe work practices and address their safety concerns.
  • Safety Inspections: Monitor safety conditions and conduct inspections of the facility and surrounding areas, including IFASE audits.
  • Equipment Audits: Perform audits and inspections of equipment and the manufacturing process to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Security and Case Management: Work with access control and security surveillance systems, and manage on-the-job injuries, including filing WC claims, restricted duty management, and OSHA reporting.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate completion of OSHA required documents and environmental reporting.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Maintain schedules and lead drills for various emergencies, such as fire and severe weather.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience: Associate's degree and 4 years of experience in health, safety, or environmental fields, or an equivalent combination of education and EH&S experience. Must possess 10- and 30-hour OSHA certifications.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Federal and State Occupational Safety and Health regulations, with a focus on OSHA regulations. If not certified, must obtain 10- and 30-hour OSHA certifications within one year of assuming the role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Organizational Abilities: Ability to organize and prioritize workload, meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with operations teams and implement safety and health programs.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent sitting, carrying/lifting up to 10 pounds, repetitive hand movements, reading, writing, reasoning/analyzing, and social interaction.
  • Occasional carrying/lifting 10-30 pounds, standing/walking, bending/twisting, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder, and calculating.
