We're seeking an HSE Specialist to work for one of our major clients, a global chemical business.
Job Overview: This individual will support the execution of our Permit to Work program, ensure workplace safety, and assist with emergency response efforts. This role involves overseeing contract and subcontract tasks, conducting workplace inspections, and supporting various safety programs and inspections, including safety equipment, emergency response, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Permit to Work Program:
- Assist in the issuance and closure of permits, including reviewing and auditing Permits and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Train new permit writers and conduct audits of safety practices and procedures, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Assist in the development, revision, and enforcement of safety procedures.
Emergency Response Program:
- Support the coordination and training of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), including scheduling drills and maintaining emergency response equipment.
- Ensure bunker gear is properly maintained and conduct regular inspections of emergency response equipment.
Safety Inspections & Audits:
- Conduct and document monthly inspections of fire extinguishers, safety showers, and eye wash stations.
- Perform regular plant walkthroughs to identify and document any housekeeping issues or hazardous conditions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Previous experience in safety or compliance roles, preferably within a chemical environment
- Knowledge of safety programs, permit systems, and emergency response procedures.
