LHH is seeking a dedicated EHS Associate for our client, a leading tobacco facility in Danville, Virginia, to play a pivotal role in ensuring safety and compliance at a newly established factory. This role offers the chance to shape safety practices in a startup environment while contributing to a legacy of craftsmanship in the community.

What You'll Do

As an EHS Associate, you will:

  • Enhance Safety & Compliance: Implement EHS processes and projects aligned with Company Standards and U.S. legal requirements, fostering a safety-first culture.
  • Drive Risk Management: Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement control measures to improve working conditions and prevent incidents.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Lead EHS initiatives, train employees during orientation, and ensure smooth communication with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Monitor Key Metrics: Collect and analyze critical KPIs, manage waste effectively, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Lead Investigations: Oversee and investigate incidents, recommending and implementing measures to prevent recurrences.

What We're Looking For

  • Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • 3–5 years of EHS experience, with knowledge of U.S. legal requirements and OSHA standards.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Experience with risk assessment, waste management, and KPI analysis.
  • Effective communication and training skills.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus but not required.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Adaptability in a startup environment.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement abilities.
