Pay Range $39,500.00-$50,500.00 Annual This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
Johns Manville Technical Center Environmental Intern Position Interns thrive at JM because we give our employees the ability to do things they wouldn't be able to anywhere else. As an Environmental Intern in Research & Development you will work side by side with other professionals and plant leadership by participating in hands on activities such as sampling, analysis, troubleshooting, and process improvements as well as be responsible for documentation and various plant initiatives.

Your Day to Day: - Support ever increasing environmental regulatory demands:
- Multiple regulatory programs have been added to JMTC operations, including South Platte Renew Industrial Wastewater Permit, 5 synthetic minor permits plus Title V air permit, Colorado Air Toxics regulations, corporate and regulatory focus on hazardous waste protocols, TSCA risk assessments, and new chemical regulation (e.g. methylene chloride, formaldehyde, PFAS) which require sample collection and related reporting
- Maintenance of a large segment of environmental related programs, all of which apply to JMTC operations:
- Clean Air Act CAA - Title V and Air Emissions
- Clean Water Act CWA
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act RCRA - Hazardous Waste
- Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures SPCC
- Toxic Substances Control Act TSCA
- Superfund Amendment and Reauthorization SARA Act/ EPCRA - SARA Tier II community right to know - chemical inventory reporting
- Management of corporate environmental compliance requirements:
- Maintenance and currency of ISO 14001 certification, effective use of chemical management system (CISPro) and required reporting (critical for Colorado Air Toxics regulations and Tier II reporting).
- Evaluation of materials for chemical safety, waste generation and chemical control zones.
What You Bring to the Team: - Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Health Or General Studies.
- Completed at least sophomore year of undergraduate course work and enrolled in classes for Spring 2025.
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: - GPA of at least 3.0 at an accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Basic understanding of production processes
- Strategic and creative thinking
- Solid works experience
