POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior Environmental Scientist is a mid-level position with 3-5 years of experience. This individual will provide environmental services on all phases of an assigned project under the supervision of the Project Manager and/or LSRP. This candidate will work in and around the surrounding area of Secaucus, NJ. PRIMARY DUTIES:
  • Prescribe, perform, and oversee site/remedial investigations as well as remedial actions in accordance with NJDEP Technical Rules & Guidance
  • Perform Preliminary Assessments for a range of project types while confirming to Industrial Site Recovery Act (ISRA) standards.
  • Prepare remedial documents (site investigation, remedial investigation, remedial action workplans, remedial action reports, etc.) in compliance with NJDEP rules in pursuit of site closure.
  • Prepare remedial cost estimates to be incorporated into overall development plans.
  • Routine field work including oversight of drilling and soil excavations, groundwater, soil, and/or vapor sampling.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of Federal and State (primarily New Jersey Site Remediation Reform Act) environmental rules, regulations and guidance, and application of remediation standards and technologies.
  • Advanced skills in technical writing and preparation of various technical reports.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of software including, but not limited to Word Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Can effectively interact with clients, subcontractors, and client reps during all phases of a project.
  • Ability to travel both locally and regionally.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Geologic Science, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Up to five years of progressive and relevant experience working on Site Remediation / Due Diligence environmental projects in New Jersey.
  • Engineering-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.
  • Landfill Design and/or Closure experience is a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
