Job Description:
Manages environmental projects including review of environmental due diligence reports and contracting and oversight of external environmental consultants retained to perform Phase I EASs. Provides technical insight and input to area analysts and maintains technical and regulatory proficiency for area.
Job Description Summary
This job is responsible for supporting a dynamic commercial real estate environmental risk assessment process that evaluates the client's real estate assets to determine existing or potential environmental risks that could impact asset values and jeopardize loan repayment. The successful candidate will possess the necessary technical skills and relevant experience to execute the process at a high level.
Role Responsibilities
Bank of America's engineering staff is primarily responsible for managing commercial real estate environmental risk assessments which includes procuring third-party environmental services, evaluating the accuracy and completeness of third-party assessments, resolving inconsistencies/discrepancies in assessment recommendations, and providing subject matter expertise and counsel to credit and lending teams.
Specific Responsibilities may include:
Ensure environmental regulatory compliance with Local, State & Federal agencies
Perform outsourcing activities and compliance reviews
Develop scopes of work for environmental due diligence
Resolve disputes regarding policy requirements and environmental assessments
Management/oversight of environmental remediation projects
Monitor department service levels
Litigation support
Contribute to enterprise strategy connecting personal contributions to business purpose, results, and success
Technical Competencies Include:
Strong Microsoft Office skillset
Technical writing to include narrative engineering reports and supporting documentation
Field management to oversee environmental field investigation activities
Effective communication with internal partners and external clients related to environmental matters
Adherence to credit policy and environmental due diligence guidelines
Working knowledge of probability of maximum loss (seismic) and property conditions assessments is preferred
Minimum Candidate Qualifications:
BS in Engineering (Geology, Geotechnical Sciences, or other appropriate scientific discipline)
5+ years of relevant environmental engineering experience; Experience working for a financial institution a plus
Significant business knowledge of risk management and regulatory interactions
Strong analytical and organizational skills; focus on attention to detail
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effectively packages and communicates complex content and information.
Critical thinker with the ability to influence senior leaders
