Operate light and heavy equipment, including front-end loaders, sanders, dump trucks, tractors, trailers, sweepers, backhoes, forklifts, garbage crushers, cranes, motor graders, scrapers, bulldozers, asphalt paver, agriculture equipment, etc., in the performance of a variety of tasks, including hauling and placement of materials, removal and replacement of large segments of asphalt street, and applying asphalt overlays; grade and level streets, alleys, roads, and parks; sweep streets and river channel; conduct levee maintenance and repairs; and perform grounds landscaping activities, etc.2. Perform snow and ice control procedures, including plowing, sanding, spreading deicing chemicals, loading, or operating other snow and ice removal light and heavy equipment; sweep, spray, and groom City ice rinks.3. Perform various duties involving asphalt and concrete, including operating asphalt paving equipment, maintenance patching, cutting out old asphalt, laying, floating, compacting asphalt surface, and removing and replacing concrete curb and gutter and street surfacing.4. Perform grounds, landscape, and maintenance activities, including mowing roadways, parks, levees, and other City properties using self-propelled and tractor mowers; prepare and level soil beds for seeding or sod; fertilize and aerate grounds using tractor-drawn equipment; and trim trees and shrubs, spray pesticides and herbicides, etc.5. Perform various miscellaneous duties, including building barricades, repairing truck chains, and operating truck scales; preparing chemicals for sanding; building maintenance and repairs; and performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machinery as required, etc.6. Coordinate temporary work crews and communicate any performance concerns to appropriate supervisors.7. Perform other such duties and functions as are necessary or incidental to the proper performance of this position. Minimum QualificationsGraduation from high school or GED certification with a minimum of two (2) years' experience in performing manual and semiskilled work in maintenance activities, including the operation of some light and heavy construction-related equipment used in construction, street maintenance, and/or agricultural activities; or any such combination of education, experience, or training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.Must possess or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire a valid Class A commercial driver's license. Tanker endorsement required for Street Division. Hazardous materials endorsement may be required for employees assigned to perform specific duties for Street Division. Supplemental Information

- Knowledge of the rules of safe operation and the precautions to be taken in order to avoid accidents in the operation of light and heavy automotive and construction equipment.
- Ability to operate most types of light and heavy construction equipment.
- Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
