EQUIPMENT OPERATOR IJob Summary: Operates small sized equipment including pick-up trucks, hay blower, hydro seeder, mowing machines (riding and push mowers) and/or scooter trucks, and performs manual labor in the maintenance and/or repair of County property and facilities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (All incumbents may not perform all duties.)
- Operates pick-up truck for the collection of litter inside the Landfill, on county ROW, and at compactor sites.
- Operates mowingmachines (including riding and push mowers to cut grass), cuts down dead trees, clears storm drains, and collects litter/ trash.
- Performs basic maintenance on pick-up trucks and mowers including washing, changing oil, greasing, checking fluids, sharpening blades and changing flat tires.
- Performs unskilled or semi-skilled labor such as loading tires collected at the Landfill, municipal details which include collecting trash, helping with erosion control methods and/or trimming trees, shrubs and cutting right-of-way.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Required:Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read and write.
- One year Laborer experience required.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the minimum level of qualifications, stated above.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Class C Driver's license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, incumbents will be subject to random drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of geography of the County including major roads and landmarks.
- Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations
- Skill in operating various types of small to medium equipment, such as scooter trucks, mowing machines, and hand and power tools.
- Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.
- Ability to perform strenuous and routine work.
