This position works in the Street Department operating equipment used in Street construction and repair. ssists with maintenance activities for area of assignment; and performs other related duties as assigned.Examples of Duties:
- Operates various types of heavy equipment including but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, water trucks, loaders, rollers, street sweepers, and forklifts.
- Performs preventive maintenance to assigned equipment and assists in ensuring equipment is maintained in safe working condition.
- Repairs and replaces City streets; removes concrete and lays asphalt; backfills curbs.
- Installs traffic control devices and road/parking lot markings.
- Sweeps streets; removes debris from roadways; cleans gutters; applies herbicides.
- Identifies and documents street pot holes and/or trees obstructing roadways.
- Maintains, repairs, installs pumps, valve boxes, and manholes.
- Replaces meter boxes and lids.
- Assists in cleaning and maintaining departmental facilities as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Typical Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year equipment operation experience; OR an equivalent combination or education and experience.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A Texas Driver's License within one year of hire.
Incentive pay provided to candidates with a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
