Salary: $19.53 HourlyLocation : LOUISVILLE, KYJob Type: Full_TimeJob Number: 13434Department: Codes & RegulationsOpening Date: 12/30/2024Closing Date: 1/11/2026 12:00 AM EasternDescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Operates light, medium and heavy vehicles, power tools, trucks, snow plows, salt and brine spreaders, grass cutting and other equipmentPerforms routine maintenance and cleaning of streets, sidewalks, vacant lots and alleys, and under supervisory authority transports employees, equipment, tools and power tools to and from work sites Examples of Duties UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISIONOperates dump trucks, pick-up, stake bed, snow removal and treatment equipment, mowing equipment, roller, concrete saw, whacker, air hammer compressor, tamper, street repair and lane painting equipment, chainsaw, and other tools and equipmentTransports tools, equipment and personnel to and from worksites and removes equipment from trucksPerforms street maintenance labor duties as required according to seasons, needs, and division prioritiesHeats liquid asphalt, patches potholes, cleans equipment and ensures that tack pot and hose are cleaned and in proper working order for subsequent jobsAssists in the erection of closures and operations of pumping plantsPerforms maintenance work on flood wall, fills holes on levee and cuts grassMaintains and makes minor repairs to equipment and cleans streets, buildings and equipmentLogs and keeps records of daily operationsOperates skid steers, tractors, roll-offs, bucket trucks, packers, sweepers, water and vac trucks and other light and medium equipment and hand held toolsBoards access to vacant buildings and structuresCollects, transports and disposes of dead animals and other debris from roadwaysPours and smoothes concrete and installs guardrails and pipeCleans vacant lots picking up debris and cutting grassLoads vehicles on pay loader for the purpose of cleaning up trash and debris from vacant lotsPerforms related work Minimum Requirements High school diploma or the equivalentWORK EXPERIENCEOne year of experience operating trucks, working with motor vehicles or small tools and equipmentEQUIVALENCYAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be substitutedOTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust submit to and pass pre-employment and random alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the Department of TransportationMust wear safety equipment as mandated by OSHAMust be on 24 hour callMust possess and maintain a valid driver's licenseSPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement or obtain within three months of employmentPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSMeets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related workSpends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbingLifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds in a team settingSpends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements Supplemental Information U46EOELouisville Metro Government is committed to providing our employees with the tools they need to lead a fit and healthy life.
