About the Opportunity

The Testing Lead will be a critical team member of the project team to oversee and manage testing phases within our Oracle Cloud ERP Implementation project. The project is a multi-year, company-wide Enterprise Business Applications (EBA) initiative, also referred to as the Aurora Program. The Aurora program will modernize business processes and platforms upon which the company operates. The Test Lead will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth and successful transition to the new system. This position will demand strategic insight, leadership skills, and a close eye on the fine details of testing processes.

As the Test Lead, the primary mission will be to create a comprehensive test strategy tailored to the specific needs and goals of the implementation project. This pivotal role involves spearheading the full spectrum of testing activities. The Test Lead's insights and meticulous planning will ensure that testing efforts are synchronized with critical project milestones and the overall project roadmap.

Collaboration is at the heart of this role, as the Test Lead will facilitate strong connections between the Project Managers, the Implementation Partner, and the Quality Assurance (QA) team. Together, they will steer the test plans in line with the project's broader vision and strict deadlines. This person will be responsible for crafting and refining test cases, scripts, and documentation, guaranteeing thorough validation of all ERP features and functions. The management and coordination of a dedicated testing team will also fall under the purview of this position. The Test Lead must instill best practices and clearly defined processes to ensure the team's operational excellence.

Simultaneously, the role involves rigorous issue management, encompassing the identification, meticulous analysis, and clear documentation of any application defects or inconsistencies. The incumbent will work together with the implementation and functional teams to troubleshoot problems, guiding them through issue resolution and subsequent re-testing processes. Moreover, a proactive, risk-based approach to testing will be championed by the Test Lead. Prioritizing tests based on potential business impact ensures that resources are directed efficiently and to the sections of the ERP that are most crucial.

Communication is a key aspect of the role, with the Test Lead serving as the principal point of contact for all testing-related matters. Regular updates to stakeholders on progress, outcomes, and potential risks will be a significant part of the role's responsibilities. Through effective dialogue, the Test Lead will help facilitate the transition for business users and maintain knowledge transfer to ensure an informed and prepared move to the new system.

This role will take direction from the Business Program Lead. This role will be instrumental in orchestrating the efforts of critical business activities across a multitude of workstreams to deliver program level objectives that align with overall program scope, budget and schedule.

Responsibilities include:

Project Delivery:

  • Develop a comprehensive test strategy tailored to the needs of the Oracle Cloud ERP implementation project.
  • Lead and manage the full spectrum of testing activities, including System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Business Simulation Testing.
  • Partner closely with the Technology Project Manager, the Implementation Partner, and the Quality Assurance (QA) team to align the test plans with overall project milestones and deliverables.
  • Refine and manage test cases, scripts, and documentation to thoroughly validate ERP features and functions.
  • Manage and coordinate the testing team's activities, ensuring adherence to best practices and established processes.
  • Instill best practices and clearly defined processes within the testing team.
  • Identify, analyze, and document defects and inconsistencies in the application functionality, output, and user interface.
  • Work with the implementation and functional teams to facilitate the resolution of identified issues and ensure re-testing of solutions.
  • Ensure a risk-based approach is taken to testing, aligning the testing focus with the highest impact areas of the business.
  • Act as a key point of contact for all testing-related communications between the project team, business users, and any other involved parties.
  • Provide regular progress updates to stakeholders and report on test results, challenges, and risks associated with the testing phase.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer to business users and other stakeholders to prepare them for the transition to the new ERP system.
