PRINCIPAL MISSION:Under the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, performs manually and by machine, housekeeping duties which contribute to the cleanliness and safety of the residents, patients, guests, visitors and other personnel.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care (as per HR Policy 113c).Adheres to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations, including but not limited to, absenteeism, ETIME, cellular telephone usage, dress code and rules of conduct.Makes Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact. Effectively communicates with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.Scrubs, strips, finish, refinishes, spray buffs, and maintains all floors throughout the hospital as designated by the Environmental Services Department.Maintains equipment in a good working order. Exchanges and replaces ancillary parts of the machine.Performs duties in job description for an Environmental Services worker when so instructed.Always equipment must have the appropriate safety/ labels features.Upon arrival and before use, all equipment should be inventoried and inspected.Equipment should be tracked on an equipment inventory log and / or daily sign out log.Always follow hand hygiene protocol.Wear gloves when exposing hands to cleaning solutions or soil.Always wear safety glasses when high dusting/cleaning, mixing or dispensing chemicals.Always use Caution sign when doing floor care operations.Keep the electrical cord for the floor machine away from traffic areas and guard it with Caution signs/ tape.Follow hand hygiene and PPE donning, doffing protocol.Always dust floor after buffing.Never use dirty pads to buff a floor. Turn pad over or replace with a clean pad, any pad which becomes dirty or saturated with solution.Moving forward with the burnished; press machine, over traffic area using a back and forth overlapping motion.The above statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principle functions of the job as identified, and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all work requirements that may be inherent in the job.QUALIFICATIONS:Education Required: High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to read and write English, follow written and verbal instructions.License(s) Required: NoneExperience/Skills Required: One year as an Environmental Service worker.WORKING CONDITIONS:Stooping, reaching and lifting. May involve heavy lifting.JOB HAZARDS:Cuts, wet floors, burns. Mixing and pouring chemicals.
