Commercial EstimatorYour new companyThis is a privately held general construction firm specializing in industrial, retail, office, healthcare, institutional and interior projects. Headquartered in Atlanta, this company has earned a reputation with clients for providing a high level of technical construction services in a safe work environment for over 30 years.Your new role
- Provide accurate, timely, and complete cost estimates for all construction (conceptual and hard bid opportunities. A major component in any bid opportunity is the estimator's ability to anticipate all aspects of the job.
- Analyze bids from subcontractors and material suppliers to insure accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
- Assist the assigned Project Manager to develop and manage design schedules to ensure that projects are designed within required time limits.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the Project Manager to provide information and understanding of the bid to allow for smooth transition into job start up and buyouts.
- Provide support of marketing and business procurement efforts through active participation in business procurement teams and in developing project updates and bid package documents.
- Evaluate value engineering alternatives - may review design options and recommend best solution based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials.
What you'll need to succeed
- Bachelor's degree in Construction or Engineering from accredited university or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience.
- 2 - 5 years experience in an estimating role.
- Proficiency all Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook), Timberline, Precision Estimating, WinFax, Microsoft Project and Digitizer
