Job Title: Estimator – Heavy Civil Construction

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000 (DOE)

Are you an experienced Estimator with a background in heavy civil construction? We're recruiting on behalf of a leading General Contractor in the Austin, Texas area, known for delivering high-quality infrastructure projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that specializes in highways, bridges, earthwork, and utility installations, playing a vital role in shaping the region's landscape.

About the Role:

As an Estimator, you'll be at the forefront of the preconstruction process, preparing accurate and competitive bids for a variety of heavy civil projects. The role involves collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to deliver cost-effective and comprehensive estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop detailed cost estimates.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and prepare cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure competitiveness.
  • Work closely with project managers and engineers to refine project scopes and budgets.
  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimation tools.
  • Identify potential project risks and recommend strategies to mitigate them.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., HCSS HeavyBid) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
