Job Description: Estimator with Experience in Light Commercial, Multi-family, and Roofing

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Estimator with expertise in light commercial construction, multi-family projects, and roofing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating, cost analysis, and project management. Experience working with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and using DODGE tools is a significant advantage. This is a critical role within our organization, requiring attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • Estimation and Cost Analysis: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for light commercial and multi-family construction projects, with a particular focus on roofing. Analyze project specifications, drawings, and other relevant documents to determine the scope of work, materials required, labor costs, and any additional expenses.

  • Project Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including detailed estimates, budgets, and material take-offs. Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to the relevant team members.

  • Bid Management: Manage the bidding process for projects, including reviewing bid documents, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and preparing bid packages. Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain competitive pricing and evaluate proposals.

  • Vendor and Supplier Relations: Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure the best value for materials and services.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information, clarify project requirements, and address any concerns or discrepancies. Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external parties throughout the estimation and bidding process.

  • Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings without compromising quality or project requirements. Suggest alternative materials, construction methods, or design modifications to optimize project costs.

  • Compliance: Stay updated with relevant industry standards, building codes, and regulations. Ensure compliance with DIR requirements and any applicable local, state, or federal regulations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively seek opportunities to improve estimation processes, tools, and methodologies. Stay informed about new technologies, materials, and construction practices in the industry.

  • Qualifications and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
    • Proven experience as an Estimator, preferably with a focus on light commercial, multi-family, and roofing projects.
    • Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles, techniques, and best practices.
    • Familiarity with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) regulations and requirements.
    • Experience using DODGE tools or similar software for project estimation and bid management is highly desirable.
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting construction blueprints, specifications, and other technical documents.
    • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites, as needed.
