Job Title: Construction EstimatorLocation: Portsmouth, VAPosition OverviewFor over 65 years we have been a leader in the marine construction industry. We specialize in a wide variety of marine construction projects, including bridges, piers, seawalls, and other waterfront structures.We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator to join our construction team. The Estimator will play a critical role in analyzing project specifications, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring project feasibility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimation and a keen eye for detail to deliver accurate and timely estimates.Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and review project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for marine construction projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing for materials and services.
- Use HCSS Heavy Bid software to estimate project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare detailed written bid proposals and presentations for clients, including project timelines, costs, and scope of work.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop cost-effective solutions to complex construction challenges.
- Monitor and support project job costs throughout the construction process, including change orders and additional scope of work.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in marine construction estimating
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering/technologies or a related field experience (preferred)
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid software (preferred)
