Job Description Responsible for providing customer service to students, faculty, and visitors; performing tasks in support of academics and operations; and providing support for diverse programming onsite. Serves as primary LCC service staff member during evening hours, managing continuous coverage of the LCC reception desk. The LCC Evening Office Assistant II role is based at the Harper College Learning and Career Center (LCC), a 50,000 square foot satellite location in Prospect Heights with 20 classrooms, computer and science labs, library, test center, childcare facilities, Hawks Care student food pantry, and community partner programming. Responsibilities Greets visitors and answers calls to assess, record, and address inquiries. Shares and interprets information regarding LCC/Harper academics and student support resources. Example: course offerings, schedules, applications, financial aid. Refers patron inquiries to appropriate departmental, institutional, or external resources including onsite LCC Hawks Care services. Uses institutional and other information systems to assist patrons, address facilities and operational needs, and provides accurate metrics on various LCC functions. Enters data accurately. Strives for excellent communication and seamless collaboration with the LCC team across all hours and areas of operation. Examples include: Provides clerical support to LCC Senior Manager and provides back-up for Program Assistant functions as needed, including providing limited direction to student aides. Documents any notable issues that arise during evening hours regarding facilities, programming, patrons, etc. Provides logistical support for on-site services and events including scheduling, appointment reminder communications, organizing College resources, and assisting day-of. Participates actively in improving LCC procedures, reference materials, and contributes to strategy to achieve the LCC mission. Performs related duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation: High school graduate or equivalent. Associates degree preferred. Experience: 1 year general office experience required. Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products. Strong interpersonal skills and customer service orientation. Ability to communicate and problem-solve with tact and confidentiality. Self-directed worker able to manage interruptions and multiple tasks efficiently. Thrives professionally in a multicultural environment. Multilingual capability is an asset.
