General Description The Event & Development Coordinator provides administrative support for development, special events, and communications in St Joseph and Elkhart County. Reporting Relationship The Event & Development Coordinator reports to the Vice President of Development & Communications. Responsibilities and Essential Functions Fundraising Events •Event Planning and Execution: Leads the planning, coordination, and implementation of special fundraising events to maximize revenue and donor engagement. This includes developing timelines, implementing promotion and marketing strategies, managing logistics, recruiting volunteers, and overseeing day-of event operations. •Volunteer Coordination for Events: Recruits, screens, and trains volunteers specifically for event roles, ensuring adequate coverage and a smooth experience for attendees and donors. Donor and Development Support •Donor Database Management & Donor Communication: Maintains donor database, ensuring accurate tracking of contributions and updates to mailing lists. Prepares donor correspondence and gift receipts. Digital Fundraising and Outreach •E-Fundraising Campaigns: Designs and executes online fundraising initiatives to broaden donor base and support organizational goals. •Social Media Management: Leads the organization's social media presence ensuring consistent, engaging content across platforms to build community awareness and support. •Website and Social Media Maintenance: Assists with the maintenance and updating of website content, ensuring information remains current and relevant to ongoing events and initiatives. Volunteer Management •Volunteer Engagement: Recruits, trains, schedules, and evaluates volunteers, ensuring they are equipped to support daily development activities and special events. Experience and Skills Education and Experience •Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. •Minimum of three years of experience in a development-related role, ideally with a focus on event management, fundraising, marketing, or communications. Knowledge and Ability •Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and initiate creative approaches to event planning and problem-solving. •Communication: Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; able to work effectively within a team. •Fundraising & Event Expertise: Experience planning, organizing, and coordinating fundraising events, with proven success in achieving revenue goals. •Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with donor databases (Donor Perfect or equivalent preferred), Microsoft Excel, Word, and Publisher. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is an asset, and video production skills are a plus. •Social Media Savvy: Proficient in using social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook for marketing and engagement purposes.
