General Statement of JobUnder general supervision, event monitors provide customer service and crowd control for scheduled events, tournaments, shows and exhibitions. Responsible for preparing area(s) of assignment, monitoring, reporting, and enforcing facility policies and safety procedures. Reports to the Event & Venues Supervisor..Specific Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSMonitor and inspect assigned area for safety issues, emergency needs or facility problems. Assist in the set up and teardown of event equipment and furnishings. Receives and responds to requests/inquiries/concerns/complaints regarding facility or equipment. Maintain guest flow through facility to eliminate bottle necks and crowd congestion.Report any guest injury or illness and provide appropriate documentation. Prepares necessary reports including incident/accident reports.Enforces rules and regulations to ensure safety of guests.Maintains neatness and cleanliness of assigned area and assist in overall post event cleaning.Opens and closes Civic Center facility. Performs light custodial work.ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONSMust be willing to work irregular hours and for extended periods of time. Must be highly adaptable to a variety of job duties and shifts.Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications and Standards RequiredRequires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by some customer service experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be able to maintain direct contact with the public for extended periods of time demonstrating good communication and interpersonal skills. Valid Florida drivers' license. May be required to have certification in CPR and first aid. Must have forklift certification. Must possess or obtain the most current FEMA 100, 200, and 700 Incident Command System certifications within 6 months of appointment to the job.Schedule: Position requires evenings, weekends and holidays.Physical Requirements: Moderately physically demanding work involving sustained periods of standing and some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling and may involve lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of moderately heavy items (20-50 pounds).Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of policy and procedure manuals. Must be able to speak with poise, voice control and confidence and to articulate information to others.Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations. Requires the ability to make routine independent judgments in the absence of supervisor.Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with co- workers and the public.Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under minimal levels of stress when confronted with an emergency or unusual situation.Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear: (talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words; hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear). Must be able to hear and understand communications through a telephone.
