About the Work

Here is how the Event Specialist accomplishes this as part of a team:
? Works with management to oversee the successful setup, execution and/or breakdown of a variety of events.
? Supports Food & Beverage Manager and management team in event related activities or other food service departmental needs.
? Provides excellent customer service and keeps a high standard of hospitality.
? Supports an environment of teamwork and cooperation among staff, advocating empowerment, innovation, and creativity.
? Leads teams and provides additional support to management by assisting in training opportunities, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
* Ability to read, write and comprehend directions and instructions; ability to add, subtract and figure percentages; computer literacy at a minimum level
* Ability to solve practical problems, multi-task and make sound decisions in an ever-changing event landscape
* Ability to function efficiently, professionally and graciously in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
* Ability to bend, lift, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear; taste and smell
* Ability to stand or walk for up to 10 hours; ability to life or move up to 50 pounds
* Embraces and understands diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace
* Demonstrates full knowledge of principles and best practices in foodservice operation.
* Ability to set up and break down event areas, drape tables, setting linens and tableware.
* Ability to implement and enforce departmental policies as needed.
* Knowledge of best practices for creating high-quality guest experiences in food service and events
* Knowledge of best practices in serving alcohol, ABC management and service guidelines; wine, beer and spirits knowledge preferred
* Knowledge leading teams, providing support to management or commensurate training
* Has achieved a level of education (high school diploma or equivalent) or equivalent experience, which allows for the establishment of ongoing working relationships with museum patrons, staff and customers.
* At least two years in food service, catering or other restaurant experience.
Additional Considerations
* Previous management and/or supervisory experience in an events setting
* ServSafe certification
* RSVP, TIPS or other alcohol training
