The Event Support and Material Movement Specialist is responsible for overseeing their zones, ensuring efficacy, productivity, safety, and the satisfaction of a customer when completing work orders. The Event Support and Material Movement Specialist reports to the Managers of ESMM, as well as the Director and Associate Director of ESMM. This position requires working in team environment, exercising good judgment, and providing support and supplies to the university for special events and the moment of various items for a wide variety of university departments. This position is considered an essential personnel role and as such is required to work during snow events and major on-campus events, including rotational weekends.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESEvent Support Responsibilities:
  • Deliver, set up and break down staging for university events.
  • Deliver, set up and break down tables and chairs for university events.
  • Deliver, set up and break down pipe and drape for university events.
Material Movement Responsibilities:
  • Deliver items to and from central receiving and the 12th St. storage facility.
  • Perform office moves for various departments.
  • Assist other departments of the University in moving items from one area to another.
Other:
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery necessary for moving various materials.
  • Clean and assist in routine maintenance of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.

Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Frequently required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Frequently handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 125 or fewer pounds.
