We are seeking an Executive Chef to lead the team at our newly opened classic American diner located in Brooklyn Heights. Executive Chef Responsibilities:
- Menu Development: Design and maintain a menu that showcases traditional diner favorites with occasional innovative twists.
- Kitchen Management: Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Staff Leadership: Manage and mentor kitchen staff, including cooks, prep staff, and dishwashers.
- Inventory and Purchasing: Manage inventory levels and ordering of kitchen supplies and ingredients.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
- Cost Control: Monitor food costs and implement strategies to reduce waste and optimize efficiency.
- Customer Interaction: Engage with guests as needed to gather feedback and ensure satisfaction.
- Menu Planning: Plan and execute daily specials and seasonal menu items.
Executive Chef Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience as a chef, with at least 4 years in a leadership role. Experience in a high-volume restaurant or diner or similar establishment is preferred.
- Education: Culinary degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong leadership and organizational skills. Excellent knowledge of classic diner cuisine and modern culinary techniques. Ability to manage a team and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
