Great Performances is hiring an executive chef for a major Upper East Side university. We enhance life's celebrations with great food and artful service while maintaining a high level of professionalism and grace. We work side-by-side with local growers and purveyors to bring the freshest seasonal foods from farm to table. We promote sustainability through Katchkie Farm, our very own 60-acre organic farm in Columbia County, New York. We also operate venues and cafes throughout NYC, including Jazz at Lincoln Center, BAM, Brooklyn Museum, Apollo, Rockefeller University, and Wave Hill. Additionally, we have an exclusive relationship with The Plaza. Responsibilities: Overseeing all onsite culinary operations Ensuring promptness, freshness, and quality of dishes Maintain proper food safety requirements Coordinate cooks' tasks and scheduling Implement hygiene policies and examine equipment for cleanliness and efficiency Design new recipes, plan menus, and execute the presentation Review staffing levels to meet service, operational, and financial objectives Hiring and training kitchen staff, such as cooks, food preparation workers and dishwashers Perform administrative tasks, taking stock of food and equipment supplies, and doing purchase orders Setting and monitoring performance standards for staff Obtain feedback on food and service quality, and handle customer/ sales team problems and complaints Purchase food and supplies from vendors approved by the company and monitor inventory Conducting quality checks of all items in production up to and including tasting, recipe review, adjustments Work with in-house catering team to coordinate food deliveries, set-ups, and execution. Qualifications: Minimum 6 years of managerial experience References of culinary background required Computer knowledge including Excel Maintains a positive attitude Keep a clean and polished appearance New York City Food Handler's Certificate is a plus Location: Upper East Side University Base salary: $120,000 based on experience Benefits: PTO, 401K, Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, Transit, and FSA (Flexible Spending Account) Must be able to provide valid documentation that you are legally eligible to work in the United States.
