Job Summary:
The Executive/Development Director is the key leadership position for the Jordan Valley Foundation. This individual is responsible for developing sustainable business structures and fundraising strategies, cultivating donor relationships, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering strong partnerships with community stakeholders. The Director will report to the CEO and will collaborate closely with the Foundation's Board of Directors and JVCHC leadership to align the foundation's operations with its broader mission and financial goals, performance is estimated 75% business operations and 25% traditional foundation work.
Key Responsibilities
Promotion of Philanthropy:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy, including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, capital campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and grant writing.
- Develop creative fundraising initiatives that engage the community and increase donor participation.
- Ensure the Foundation's donor database is accurate and up to date, leveraging data to analyze donor trends and inform strategy.
Business Development and External Relations:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities through market research, relationship building, strategic partnerships, ultimately driving sustainable revenue growth for the foundation by expanding into new markets and customer bases.
- Lead the Foundation's strategic planning efforts to ensure alignment with JVCHC's goals and priorities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with business entities, donors, community leaders, corporations, and foundations.
- Monitor business(es) performance, track key metrics, and provide reports to senior management on business development activities.
- Manage and provide strategic direction to Foundation staff (if applicable) and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee the creation of compelling marketing materials, including campaign literature, donor appeals, and impact reports.
Board Governance:
- Work closely with the Foundation's Board of Directors to support business and fundraising efforts, including board engagement in donor cultivation and solicitation.
- Provide training and guidance to board members to enhance their effectiveness in fundraising and advocacy.
- Prepare and present reports on business development/management, fundraising progress, financial performance, and strategic initiatives.
- Track and report on key performance indicators related to organizational impact.
Communications and Public Relations:
- Develop and execute a communications plan to enhance the Foundation's visibility and public awareness of its mission.
- Act as the Foundation's spokesperson in media and community relations.
- Serve as a visible and inspiring leader, representing the Foundation in the community and at events.
Work Environment:
This position is based at the Jordan Valley Foundation office, with occasional travel to community events, donor meetings, and conferences. Evening and weekend work may be required for special events or donor engagement activities.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated business acumen and experience in evaluation of strategic initiatives aimed at long-term growth
- 5-7 years of experience exploring business development to secure sustainable revenue sources.
- 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or a related field, with a proven track record of achieving revenue goals.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and secure major gifts and build long-term donor relationships.
- Strong understanding of fundraising best practices, donor stewardship, and grant writing.
- Experience managing budgets and ensuring compliance with financial policies.
- Proven ability to work with boards, volunteers, and community stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
