Description: The Sandwich Housing Authority (SHA) is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the management of 13 units of Ch. 705 Family Housing, 28 units of Ch. 667 Elderly/Handicapped Housing, 8 units of Ch. 667 Congregate Housing, 12 units of Ch. 689 Housing, 26 MRVP vouchers, 30 AHVP vouchers, 182 Federal Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers, and 16 locally owned housing units. The candidate should be familiar with both Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) program requirements. Required work hours are 37.5 hours per week.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years' experience in public or private housing, community development, public administration, non-profit administration, or a related field that demonstrates strong management and organization skills.
  • One year's experience overseeing at least three staff persons or as a significant project team leader, or program administration is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills required.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of housing management, finances, and maintenance systems in public or private housing is desired. Knowledge of the laws regulating State and Federal housing programs is desired. Strong organizational and personnel management skills are desired.

    An ability to communicate effectively with local officials, boards, residents, service providers, and funding agencies is essential. Experience working with the public as well as individuals of various socio-economic backgrounds is required. Certification as a Massachusetts Public Housing Administrator (MPHA) is desired or must be obtained within one year.

    Proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with centralized public housing wait list, housing software, HUD, and EOHLC databases and reporting systems is desired.

    Other preferred credentials include graduation from an accredited four-year college or university, and a passion for the mission.
