Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Work diligently to enable the senior citizens of Whitley County to live confident, dignified, independent, and productive lives through education, programs, and services.
  • Provide all administrative and clerical support reflecting a positive attitude, being courteous, cultivating and promoting good working relationships at all times with tact, diplomacy, discretion, loyalty, and confidentiality.
  • Research and analyze client and community needs to determine goals and objectives to meet those needs.
  • Contact emergency personnel, when necessary, in order to ensure the safety of all clients, staff, and property.
  • Provide direct service and support to clients and give referrals for services not provided by Whitley County Council on Aging.
  • Act as consultant to agency staff and others regarding the interpretation of program-related federal, state and county regulations and policies.
  • Provide orientation for new board members.
  • Prepare agenda and provide information for board meetings.
  • Establish and oversee administrative procedures to meet objectives set by the board of directors.
  • Execute all board approved policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required by the board of directors.
  • Act as ex-officio member of all standing committees.
  • Serve as a participant in the determination of organizational policies and procedures and oversee follow-through.
  • Ensure representation of Whitley County Council on Aging with governmental and media institutions.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with other agencies and organizations.
  • Speak to, or provide, a designee to speak to community groups to explain and interpret agency purposes, programs, and policies.
  • Seek funding opportunities.
  • Oversee budget preparation and administration for programs, equipment, and support services.
  • Recruit, interview, and hire staff. Encourage the participation of volunteers.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate the work of staff and volunteers to ensure quality programming and effective use of resources.
  • Oversee preparation and maintenance of records and reports, such as budgets, personal records, and training manuals.
  • Ensure compliance with the Indiana Transit Asset Management (TAM) Group Plan and submit required data and information to INDOT Office of Transit on an annual basis.
  • May require some travel, including overnight.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit in a normal seated position for extended periods of time, walking, keyboarding, close vision, lifting objects weighing up to 25 pounds, good oral and written communication skills.
  • Normal hearing, with the aid of corrective devices, as needed (i.e., hearing aid).
  • Normal vision, with the aid of corrective devices, as needed (i.e., glasses or contacts).

  • Ability to effectively communicate, including strong oral and written communication skills; and knowledge of English language.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Must keep current on governmental regulations regarding the administration of agency programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The position requires being seated for extended periods of time. The work environment is a controlled setting with normal temperatures and high levels of light. The position requires frequent interaction with the public.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred, or combination of 3-5 years equivalent experience in the field of nonprofit or business administration.

Tools and Technology: Desktop and/or laptop computers, QuickBooks Accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite.
