Executive Director - Museum of Art - DeLand, FloridaThe Museum of Art - DeLand is a vital and interactive 501(c)3 non-profit visual arts museum enriching the community through dedication to the collection and preservation, study, exhibition and educational use of the fine arts. The Museum is a source of cultural focus and is recognized statewide by its peers for academic excellence and community outreach. It is host to several rotating exhibits, gallery talks, receptions, educational programming, master artist workshops and special events throughout each year.POSITION OVERVIEWThe primary responsibility of the Executive Director is to provide leadership that will strengthen and develop the financial health of the organization, ensuring a sustainable operation that advances the Museum's purpose: to inspire and foster appreciation of art in individuals and in the community.The Executive Director reports directly to the President and Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, and in turn, the full Board of Trustees. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of Museum operations including:
Fundraising, development, grants administration Exhibitions, educational and outreach programs Marketing and Advertising Board development and communications Staffing/Personnel (14 - full and part time) Serving as primary spokesperson for the organization by articulating the Museum's mission, vision and goals to the local and broader community. Ensuring that the Museum's programs and practices are aligned with the Museum Code of EthicsWork Week: Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 4 pm (additional hours required for events)Health Insurance Stipend (taxable): $264 per monthLife Insurance (Employer Paid): $10,000Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, Paid Personal LeaveSalary Range: $50,000 - $75,000MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelor of Arts or Masters Degree in Art or Business preferred, with three to five years leadership experience. Basic business administrative knowledge including budget management, individual and corporate membership management and personnel management skills required. Knowledge of the arts, art exhibitions and art programs required.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES DevelopmentPlan and implement an annual development and fundraising strategy. Working with the appropriate staff and board members, this strategy may include (but is not limited to) direct, personal contact with prospective donors, e-blast and mailed appeal campaigns, fundraising events, membership campaigns, donor recognition opportunities. LeadershipProvide support and oversight for staff's duties in all areas of Museum operations. Work with the Board to set and implement priorities and strategies for the organization. Work with BOT Committees to engage Board participation. Keep Board informed regarding all major programs and activities/progress on planned projects. Fiscal ManagementWork with the Director of Operations in preparing and presenting the annual budget and the development of financial goals and strategies to meet annual budget. Exhibitions, Collections and ProgramsOversee the development of multi-year exhibition schedule aligned with the mission while working with Curator of Exhibitions. Solicit works of art for the permanent collection. Plan, schedule and promote programs appropriate to the mission of the Museum. Oversee Museum's education and outreach programs while working with Director of Education. Physical PlantManage facility along with Director of Operations. PromotionServe as primary spokesperson for the Museum at programs, events, with government entities, and out in the community. Oversee the strategy and implementation of the Museum's marketing program. Planning and ReportingWork with Board and committee to chart steps annually toward accreditation. Update Long Range Planning annually, developing strategic and long range goals for Museum growth and improvement of program quality. VolunteersEncourage and support Museum Guild. Ensure the development of volunteer base to support operations for the Museum.
