The Role: Executive Director for the Pride Center of Staten Island
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will oversee the day-to-day operations and management of The Pride Center of Staten Island and will be responsible for all administrative, financial, and program functions. She/He/They will directly supervise staff, lead fundraising efforts, and manage external relations and communications. This role carries ultimate responsibility for developing and implementing strategies that advance The Pride Center's mission and vision.
Salary Range: $147,000 - $160,000 Annually

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Board Relations:
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, Steering Committee, and staff to ensure that The Pride Center's mission is realized through effective programs, strategic planning, and outreach initiatives.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the Board, providing timely and accurate information to support informed decision-making.
- Monitor and evaluate changes in policies, funding opportunities, and industry trends, keeping the Board informed about potential impacts and opportunities.
Organizational Leadership:
- Lead strategic planning efforts to ensure the organization continues to advance its mission effectively.
- Oversee the implementation of programs designed to fulfill The Pride Center's mission.
- Establish specific organizational goals and measurable outcomes in alignment with the Board's direction.
- Manage and allocate resources to ensure efficient and successful operations.
- Review, approve, and execute contracts, agreements, and other official organizational documents.
- Evaluate potential risks to the organization's security, growth, and sustainability, implementing measures to mitigate them.
Staff Management:
- Manage all personnel activities, including recruiting, hiring, retaining qualified staff, and conducting performance evaluations.
- Update organizational structure and job descriptions as needed, ensuring alignment with budget constraints.
- Establish performance goals and measurable outcomes for all staff members.
- Supervise program and operations staff, as well as external consultants and service providers, to ensure effective collaboration and results.
Financial Management:
- Provide strong fiscal stewardship to ensure the organization's financial health and sustainability.
- Oversee financial and administrative operations, maintaining fiscal integrity and transparency.
- Prepare and submit annual budgets, monthly financial statements, and comprehensive reports to the Board promptly.
- Ensure the organization operates within the approved budget, optimizing resource utilization while maintaining a positive financial standing.
Fundraising:
- Identify and actively pursue fundraising opportunities, including individual donations, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, special events, and other funding streams.
- Lead initiatives to secure financial resources essential to advancing the organization's mission and programs.
- Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with key individual donors, corporate partners, and institutional funders.
- Strategically expand the organization's base of financial support to ensure long-term sustainability.
External Relations:
- Strengthen The Pride Center's visibility as a local leader in public health by actively engaging with professional, public, and private sector organizations.
- Develop and disseminate policy and position statements on issues relevant to The Pride Center's mission and initiatives.
- Serve as a public advocate for the organization, representing its programs and values within the communities it serves.
- Implement a comprehensive communications plan to inform stakeholders about the organization's activities, achievements, and future goals.
- Proactively seek public speaking engagements and media opportunities to promote the organization, attract supporters, and build community awareness.
While no single candidate is likely to have equal expertise in all of the above categories, successful candidates will have a compelling combination of strengths in many of them and self-awareness and wisdom to leverage other resources in the area(s) where she/he/they lack personal mastery.
REQUIREMENTS:
- The ideal candidate will be an experienced nonprofit professional with a proven track record of success. She/He/They must be a self-motivated, results-oriented leader capable of thriving in highly diverse environments.
- This individual should demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain strategic direction while effectively managing day-to-day operations.
- She/He/They must possess a background in public health, care, and treatment, along with a demonstrated commitment to advancing health equity and supporting marginalized communities.
- Proven nonprofit leadership experience, including a minimum of 10 years in management; executive-level experience in a public health-related field is preferred.
- Experience working effectively and collaboratively with a Board of Directors.
- Direct staff and financial management experience in organizations of similar size and complexity.
- Hands-on budget management skills, including preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
- Strong organizational abilities, including planning, program development, and task facilitation.
- Ability to convey a strategic vision of The Pride Center of Staten Island to staff, Board members, and funders.
- Demonstrated success in nonprofit fundraising, with a track record of increasing philanthropic income and support.
- Comfort and experience as a public advocate for LGBTQ individuals and marginalized communities.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse audiences.
- Executive presence combined with humility and a willingness to learn from experts and stakeholders.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree and/or years of experience in related field preferred.

The new Executive Director will build upon the foundation created by the organization's founding Executive Director over the past seven years. They will lead The Pride Center to new levels of growth and effectiveness, directly impacting public health and the lives of Staten Island's LGBTQ community.
