Executive Director/Vice President of Resource Planning depending on experienceThis position is responsible for coordinating delivery of Integrated Resource Plans, portfolio services and strategic portfolio hedge recommendations to ACES' clients.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead the interface of ACES front, middle and back office subject matter experts in support of client Integrated Resource Plans and forward market hedge recommendations.
  • Design reporting frameworks with clients and internal ACES service providers to provide insight about client portfolios and forward risk metrics.
  • Develop client-specific analytical support to interpret long-term portfolio risks and the effects of risk mitigation activities.
  • Develop communication timelines and lead the project implementation to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services and recommendation and manage periodic meetings with clients and ACES service providers.
  • Work with clients and ACES middle office to develop hedging policies that represent each company's distinct risk tolerance.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert in resource planning within the Portfolio Strategy department by providing direction and support to other ACES departments.
  • Command an excellent working knowledge of portfolio components and risk exposures for clients for a period of up to 30 years.
  • Construct, document and implement streamlined client processes to receive client portfolio data on a regular timeline and provide clients with regular reporting designed to meet the needs of various client departments/stakeholders.
  • Interface with all ACES functional areas for an integrated management of members and customers portfolios in accordance with established risk management and power supply cost metrics.
  • Oversee the Fundamentals and Capacity team and guide them through the continued improvement of this service.
  • Gather and convey market intelligence and risk management advice to clients.
  • Present integrated resource plans and portfolio hedge recommendations to client senior management, defend the recommendation and effectively articulate the risk management need within the portfolio.
  • Provide reports to senior management and boards of directors of clients and ACES.
  • Expand service opportunities with resource planning and extends relationships with existing clients.
  • Travel as required to diverse client locations in US.
  • Mentor less experienced Portfolio Strategy employees by sharing knowledge and expertise.

  • Adheres to and is supportive of all ACES corporate policies and complies with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to NERC, FERC and relevant state regulations as applicable to the position

Responsible for direction and supervision of:
  • Manager/Director of Fundamentals & Capacity
  • Manager/Director of Portfolio Analytics
  • Manager/Director of Resource Planning
  • Senior Resource Planning Analyst
Qualifications
  • College degree in an appropriate discipline with at least 10 years of experience in the wholesale energy business and 3 years in the Director of Resource Planning Position within the industry. Advanced degree highly desirable.
  • Experience in three or more areas to include resource planning, origination, mid-marketing, trading, transmission, portfolio management, portfolio modeling, middle and/or back office activities of power marketing highly desirable.
  • Command of traded energy risk management products and risk management fundamentals.
  • Command of portfolio management and finance concepts including asset valuation, correlation of investment returns, option valuation techniques, and probability theories.
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of the US electric transmission grid and associated regional transmission organizations.
  • Advanced knowledge of electric generation assets and related fuels.
  • Advanced knowledge of Regional Transmission Operators (RTOs), Independent System Operators (ISOs) and established pools and their associated constructs for energy, capacity, ancillaries, transmission and other products.
  • Excellent customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong ability to work with teams and coordinate contributions of others to achieve results.
  • High degree of analytical ability, mathematics and technical concepts.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills as well as computer skills.
  • Series 3, National Commodity Futures Examination, qualified in past 2 years, required
