The Executive Office plays an integral role in setting and advancing Goldman Sachs's corporate strategy and in preserving the firm's distinctive culture. The Executive Office is responsible for safeguarding the firm's relationship with alumni, clients, shareholders, policymakers, and the broader public, while ensuring that Goldman Sachs's own people remain informed about the firm's evolving priorities. The Executive Office also partners with the businesses to source high-impact opportunities in line with the firm's social and sustainability agendas.

Investment Banking

Investment Banking serves public and private sector clients around the world and generates revenues from financial advisory, underwriting, and corporate lending activities. Investment Banking provides financial advisory services, helps companies raise capital to strengthen and grow their businesses, and provides financing to corporate clients. Investment Banking seeks to develop and maintain long-term relationships with a diverse global group of institutional clients, including corporations, governments, states, and municipalities. Goldman Sachs's Investment Banking goal is to deliver to their institutional clients all of their resources in a seamless fashion, with investment banking serving as the main initial point of contact.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Managing Director, Global Banking & Markets Communications, the Vice President, Corporate Communications helps drive the communications strategy for Goldman's Investment Banking division. The Vice President will develop and implement strategic programs designed to support Goldman Sachs's business priorities, advance and protect the company's reputation, and strengthen engagement of key external stakeholders. This role will provide strategic direction to a team of junior external communications professionals and oversee the creation of strategies to support the firm's key strategic initiatives and businesses through targeted, timely communications.

This executive is chiefly responsible for the strategic direction and leadership of the Investment Banking unit's communications function and is a leadership team member of the company's divisional corporate communications function.

  • Strategy: Serve as the primary communication support for the Investment Banking division. Develop and implement an overarching communications strategy that is aligned with business objectives. Ensure it is integrated and consistently articulated to all of the organization's stakeholders (including leadership, employees, media, industry leaders/influencers, clients, vendors, investors, community leaders, and the general public).
  • Team Management & Leadership: Serve as a key leader of the global divisional communications team, interacting with communications peers in other business units as well as across the enterprise. Ensure optimal level of integration and collaboration on communications planning and opportunities; assist with ensuring synergistic messaging and brand consistency across all communications channels.
  • Media Relations: Implement a proactive reputation management and press relations program to favorably position the Investment Banking business and leadership within the trade, business, and financial press. Maintain press relationships and structure an optimum media inquiry response model in order to control all aspects of publicity that may impact the divisions and broader organization. Develop optimized employee brand and recruiting earned media strategy to best position the Investment Banking workforce as aspirational.
  • Crisis Management: Develop and manage an effective crisis and issues management program that signals an early warning for any scenario that could be disruptive to the business. Anticipate, identify, and mitigate communications and reputation risk.
  • Content Development: Develop high-impact communication briefings and written and multimedia communications to equip the executive team to deliver on goals and objectives with priority internal and external audiences. Support in the preparation of a broad range of content including internal and external speeches, talking points, background/situational analyses, reports, presentations, quotes, op-eds, digital communications, and thought leadership pieces. Participate in content approval model for divisional executive social media and client communications.
  • Executive Communications: Provide strategic communications counsel to divisional leadership within Investment Banking and partner with other communications and marketing leaders to ensure alignment, coordination, and a cohesive narrative. Partner effectively with divisional internal communications to drive strategic synergies with divisional media cycle.
  • Communications Measurement: Design and develop processes and standards to effectively monitor and analyze communications campaigns and efforts. Continually integrate new technology and best practices to increase communications' impact and efficiency, internally and externally.
  • Stakeholder Management: Foster positive relationships between corporate communications and the businesses and work closely with leadership in support of business objectives. Lead and optimize the efforts of an extended team of sophisticated communicators and develop the team to manage strong communication, both internally and externally, for multiple stakeholders across multiple businesses.
  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

    The successful candidate will have 7-10+ years of progressively increasing experience in financial services communications, preferably with a focus on Investment Banking. This will be a high-energy, strategic thinker with exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, the ability to foster collaborative decision-making, and strong relationship-building skills.

    Additional qualifications will include:

  • Significant experience developing and executing comprehensive corporate communications, content and messaging, and public relations programs across a variety of deliverables and audiences. Proven experience writing for senior executives, political leaders, or other high profile/public personalities. Strong track record in producing high-quality storytelling, content, and traditional and digital presentations for senior executives.
  • Skilled writer and editor with outstanding attention to detail; experience crafting and editing high-quality strategic communications for internal (C-Suite) and external audiences.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail, and a personal reputation for honesty, integrity, and above-reproach ethics.
  • Strong experience/knowledge of techniques for driving reputation and brand and advancing messaging in the market.
  • Familiarity with financial services and/or financial technology industry sectors preferred.
  • An undergraduate degree is required; an advanced degree would be highly desirable.
  • Salary Range

    The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $125,000-$250,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
