The MOUTH is an exciting Mediterranean/American restaurant located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We seek an Executive Sous Chef who will add to an exhilarating and engaging culinary experience for The MOUTH, the adjacent restaurant to Brooklyn Art Haus. Our ideal candidate will build partnerships between the community, the artists, and the culinary enthusiasts of Williamsburg that will be featured throughout our performance space, studios, gallery, bar, and kitchen. Hospitality and organization are key for this position that is both engaging and demanding. Moreover this ideal candidate loves art, culture, and the beautiful diversity of expression and social engagement at the intersection of arts and cuisine.

Our kitchen boasts a Mediterranean/American focused menu with locally sourced items in collaboration with our friends at Lighthouse Restaurant. This is an electric kitchen concept (no gas) is focused on sharable options plus delivery and pickup. The Dining Room seats 45 with a kitchen top, 25 at the bar, and 12 in the private dining area. The theater boasts a service bar and occasional in-theater dining.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Oversee menu implementation, build vendor relationships, work within budgets

-Manage ordering for kitchen and bar, oversee stocking and supply levels

-Administer to deliveries

-Manage vendor contracts, administer to repairs, maintenance, and replacements

-Manage internal staff in concert with Executive Directors, including scheduling

-Oversee adherence to safety, legal, and insurance guidelines for kitchen/bar program

-Nurture an environment that supports the work of all employees at Brooklyn Art Haus

-Organize special events alongside House Management team

REQUIREMENTS:

-2-4 years of Lead Sous or Head Chef experience leading a team

-Food safety certification, ideally a culinary degree

-Knowledge of POS systems

-Ability to facilitate and organize multiple events at once from day to day

-Excellent social awareness, communication and strategy skills, problem solving

-Lead with empathy, kindness, support, and uplifting collaboration

COMPENSATION

-This is a full-time hourly position according to the Fair Labor Standards Act -Option for raises and bonuses-Additional in-house benefits and privileges
