Overall Responsibility:The Export Specialist will be responsible for managing and coordinating the export of donated goods and resources to international locations. This role is crucial in ensuring that our aid programs operate smoothly and that our shipments comply with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics and export operations and a passion for making a positive difference in the lives of others.Will be responsible for preparing required shipping documents for purchased/donated goods to various Caribbean and Latin American countries and maintain records of same. Interface with Gifts-In-Kind and Purchasing departments to ensure accuracy and a timely processing of documents.This role is to be hired in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.Duties:
- Export Coordination: Manage the export process for donated goods, including preparation and review of export documentation such as shipping manifests, customs declarations, and certificates of origin. Coordinate shipping arrangements with DHL and FedEx.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all shipments comply with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and local laws in the destination countries.
- Logistics Management: Coordinate with shipping companies, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to arrange the transportation and delivery of goods. Monitor shipments to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for international partners, donors, and logistics providers regarding export-related inquiries and issues.
- Inventory Oversight: Monitor and manage inventory levels of goods designated for export to ensure adequate supplies and prevent shortages.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain an prepare accurate records of all export activities and prepare reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory agencies as needed.
- Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues that arise during the export process, such as shipment delays, customs complications, or documentation discrepancies.
- Compliance Monitoring: Stay informed about changes in international trade regulations and customs procedures that may affect the export process.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or International Business
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in export operations, logistics, or international trade, preferably within the shipping or logistics industry.
- Bilingual English/Spanish
- Experience within a non-profit or humanitarian context is an added value.
- Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and export documentation.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of shipping operations.
Skills:
- Ability to use logic and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities of improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with both internal and external partners effectively
- Able to work independently, but willing to be a team player in support of team goals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with export management software is preferred.
