Populous Group, LLC - Exterior Design Specialists - Job ID #3592 in New York, New York JOB DESCRIPTION: • Create complex designs for Populous Group, LLC, an award winning global design firm. • Work within a dynamic and collaborative global design creative environment. • Provide high level conceptual realization of design work in a variety of media formats, with a focus on exterior designs, specifically on the design, fabrication, and installation of complex and economically sustainable geometric façades. • Use diverse skill set working in multiple media platforms, utilizing illustration talents, computer generated renderings, animations, and the production of motion graphics in various forms for visual communication of the conceptual idea. • Create, edit, analyze, document, render, animate, and translate NURBS curves, surfaces and solids, subdivision geometry (SubD), point clouds, and polygon meshes utilizing Rhino and Grasshopper. • Develop project specific scripts and maintain detail and accuracy through levels of development, adding detail around tolerances and fabrication techniques through the phases of the project while maintaining clarity and ability for collaborators to contribute. • Provide leadership during technical development and project documentation. • Lead in developing, modifying, and reviewing design concepts, production drawings and construction documents according to established standards and technical expertise. • Develop design concepts and documents during the schematic and design development stages. • Focus on design conceptualization and development of solutions to a project's programmatic requirements. • Design photorealistic renderings and 3D walkthroughs utilizing Enscape. • Assist in design and operational research, building & systems programming, site and building analysis and report documentation. • Assist in preparing design presentations to clients, communities, and other pertinent stakeholders, including public agencies. • Meet with custom façade fabricators and contractors to facilitate and bridge fabrication and design discussions for complex building façades. • Assist Project Managers in the construction administration process. • Travel to client job sites, fabrication and testing facilities as needed. • All other duties and responsibilities required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Architecture and 3 years of architectural experience, including experience with all of the following: the design, fabrication and installation of complex and economically sustainable geometric façades; and with Rhino, Grasshopper and Enscape. (or a Bachelor's degree in Architecture and 5 years of the above experience). 1 year of experience required in the custom façade design and manufacturing industry. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Strong sketching and freehand drawings skills. Ability to create quick sketches to convey/sell an idea. Design portfolio exhibiting spatial and environmental ability, story creation and creativity. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Salary $104,000/yr.
