Job Type Full-time Description The Extrusion Technical Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of extrusion machinery by performing setup, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities along with running operations. The individual in this role will use a keen eye for detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to minimize downtime. HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Demonstrate the Core Values of Comfort Research in daily actions, execution of tasks, and interactions with others.
- Configure and set up extrusion machinery for production runs according to established protocols and specifications.
- Collaborate with the extrusion cell team leader to understand specific production plan and to ensure equipment readiness.
- Execute routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning, lubrication, and daily assessment of worn or damaged components.
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to address equipment breakdowns and implement preventive maintenance schedules.
- Own the timely and effective startup, production, and shutdown of machines daily.
- Monitor and assess product quality during setup and production runs, making necessary adjustments to meet quality standards.
- Ensure production output targets in conjunction with entire extrusion cell needs.
- Work hand in hand with quality / engineering teams to implement corrective actions and prevent defects.
- Identify and resolve issues related to equipment malfunctions, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining optimal production efficiency.
- Provide detailed reports on equipment performance, issues encountered, and resolutions implemented.
- Responsible for training and coaching fellow operators while demonstrating expertise in technical extrusion operations.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, offering insights and suggestions to enhance efficiency, safety, and overall equipment performance.
- Stay on top of industry trends and possibly advancements in extrusion processes.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or relevant education is a plus.
- Five years' experience in manufacturing environment, including 2-3 years collectively in leadership, machine operations, working with production entry, set up & changeover, and quality checks.
- Work well with peers in a team environment.
- Proven experience as a setup technician in an extrusion manufacturing environment, highly desired.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a track record of effectively addressing machinery issues.
- In-depth knowledge of extrusion processes, equipment, and related technologies.
- Familiarity with control systems, sensors, and other automation components.
- Possess and demonstrates aptitude for mechanical, electrical, machine controls, and gas injection systems.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and precision in executing setup procedures
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to provide clear and concise reports on troubleshooting activities.
- Commitment to adhering to safety protocols and promoting a safe working environment.
