This job was posted by : For more information, please see: SUMMARYResponsible for setting up and aligning parts per blueprint in preparation for welding and for performing welding operations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- References blueprint and confers with Lead person to determine job requirements.- Gathers necessary materials and performs layout per specifications.- Sets up welding machine and adjusts settings.- Operates welding gun to weld steel, aluminum, copper, etc., pieces together.- Visually examines welds for adherence to quality standards; rewelds defective joints and removes surplus slag, flux, and spatter using a brush, pad, buffer, and/or grinder.- Operates cutting torch and manual plasma cutter as needed.- Applies weld stencil and notifies Lead person or Inspector when product is ready for inspection.- Performs ongoing housekeeping duties to keep work area clear of scrap and debris.PROFILE LEVEL DESCRIPTION- Expands skills in own work area within an analytical/scientific method or operational process.- Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise.- Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods with a moderate degree of supervision.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESNo formal supervisory responsibilities in this position.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION and EXPERIENCENo education required.HS diploma or GED preferred.1 to 2 years of experience required.At least 1 year of welding experience and/or production, manufacturing, or assembly experienceOr equivalent combination of education and experience.CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSESMust have or achieve welding certificationCOMPETENCY SUMMARY- Completes assignments on or ahead of schedule and accomplishes assigned work in an organized, timely manner.- Maintains a level of productivity that is sufficient to accomplish assigned tasks.- Completes tasks with minimal errors.- Reports to work on time and communicates schedule changes promptly to supervisor.- Applies knowledge, skills, and abilities to progress team goals.OTHER QUALIFICATIONSAbility to use/operate welding machine, cutting torch, manual plasma cutter, brush, pad, buffer, grinder, overhead crane, ratchet straps, rubber hammer, stencil, and tape measureAbility to read blueprintsAbility to understand and perform basic math calculationsApply
