Metro Transit's Engineering and Facilities Department is responsible for the development and construction of Metro Transit's public and support facilities. In the support facility area, we plan, design, and construct improvements to the bus operations and maintenance facilities including replacement of existing building equipment, improvements to the maintenance service bays, renovating operations support space, building additions, roof replacements, and designing new facilities. Engineering and Facilities has built and maintains over 2 million square feet of office and industrial space. How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region: The Facility Interiors Project Coordinators Within Transits Engineering and Facilities department will support Interior furniture and workstation equipment systems and will be liaison between Engineering and Facilites staff to implement Metro Transit Office Standards and Guidelines as well as other interior initiatives for a healthy, vibrant, workplace for all employees.
What you would do in this job
The Facility Interiors Project Coordinator position will complete small interior furniture and workstation equipment purchases with various vendors following Metropolitan Council procurement process and contracts. The coordinator will be responsible for projects up to $175,000 and will support larger Engineering & Facilities projects by leading the interior design decisions in coordination with the Project Managers.
- Manage multiple Metro Transit purchase orders up to $175,000.
- Acts as liaison between Engineering Project Managers, Council Authorized Representatives and the Facility Maintenance team to complete projects and tasks, including coordinating moving items/equipment, requesting janitorial services and tasks for Facility Technicians or an outside vendor to perform.
- Works with Engineering Project Managers on large project interiors to procure and oversee furniture, accessories (window blinds/films), plants, artwork, reasonable accommodations, and other miscellaneous Facility items.
- Works with Engineering Project Managers on drawing file organization and compilation for up-to-date plans.
- Prepares scope and estimate documents for purchases using state and local funds.
- Represent Engineering & Facilities in future planning efforts for office spaces.
- Participate in capital budget/funding planning.
- Support Facility Maintenance in development of operations budget for furniture, accessories, and other equipment
- Coordinate schedules with key vendor partnerships including movers, painters, low voltage vendors, repair services, furniture vendors on annual contracts.
- Help with execution of work orders via Facilities Supervisors or vendors on annual contracts.
Examples of projects:
- Work with end users to review current use of space, projected staff increases, and develop plan for rearrangement, replacement, or installation of furniture systems.
- Support project managers designing updates of support spaces at South Garage to perform furniture and equipment layouts improve work environment and facilities for staff.
- Fulfill requests for small alterations to existing spaces for employee needs including adjusting walls, new carpet, furniture, artwork to bring all spaces up to standards.
- Work with end users to purchase and install any furniture replacements like chairs, wall accessories.
- Utilize computer programs to update keep updated and accurate furniture layout and building floor plans. Print and install new signage in facilities as changes are made and projects are completed.

- Associates degree from an accredited university or college in Interior Design, Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology, Planning or related field.
- 3 years of experience in interior design, drafting, engineering, architecture, planning or related field.
Senior Project Coordinator (Non-Represented Grade H, Exempt -$82,908 - $134,555)
- Associates degree from an accredited university or college in Interior Design, Drafting, Engineering, Architecture, Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Construction Technology or related field.
- Four (4) years of experience in interior design, drafting, engineering, architecture, planning or related experience.

- Furniture system inventory management
- Knowledge of Microsoft software and project tracking software packages. Computer applications related to the work, including basic GIS, Revit, or Auto CAD concepts and applications.
- Knowledge of interior design layouts while ensuring building and accessibility codes are maintained.
- Experience in leading and facilitating meetings with end users of interior furniture and workstation equipment systems to select the right systems.

What your work environment will be: This position will be based at both construction sites and in the office and will be considered for a hybrid work arrangement. This position will be exposed to moving parts, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions and vibration. Confined space entry at industry and various facilities is required.
