SUMMARY The Facilities Maintenance Coordinator provides a variety of services such as mechanical repair, general maintenance, and overall handyperson assistance for the buildings, equipment, and property. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Maintains property including but not limited to grounds, offices, public areas, and equipment through development and implementation of preventive maintenance program; ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner and according to all specifications.
  • Manages organization's physical operations including but not limited to landscaping, refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, plumbing, water treatment, irrigation, and electric systems.
  • Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies corrected; ensures property is in compliance with all safety and sanitation policies, procedures, and regulations in conjunction with risk managers from insurance carriers.
  • Conducts annual property inspections, generates work orders, and collaborates on annual capital budget for maintenance activities.
  • Provide minor preventive maintenance tasks for buildings, equipment, and property.
  • Provides janitorial support services to staff.
  • Removes trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area; recycling materials.
  • Cleans and resupplies restrooms.
  • Sets up and breaks down equipment and furniture for functions when required.
  • Services and reports mechanical malfunctions if they cannot repair them.
  • Is aware of and reports any unauthorized person on the premises.
  • Responsible for painting, minor plumbing repairs, minor electrical repairs and other routine maintenance needed.
  • Interfaces with appropriate staff/managers, Diocese Project Managers, engineers, and outside contractors to review and/or develop renovation and any possible new construction plans, coordinates communication with and work of outside contractors.
  • Liaison with outside agencies on property matters (i.e., city, county agencies)
  • Attends staff and planning sessions as required.
  • Attends training and conferences and reads information needed to stay current in the position.
  • Ensures all set-ups for parish events and hall rentals are completed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Three years relevant experience in similar position preferred. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES •Three years relevant experience in similar position preferred. •Must have working knowledge of all building systems, HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. •Individual should have the knowledge and skills to diagnose trouble issues, make minor repairs and be able to collaborate with outside vendors to get repairs done to the building systems. •Knowledge of the proper use and disposal of hazardous materials, safe handling techniques, and use of proper safety equipment as outlined by OSHA. •Must have repair skills for minor equipment used inside or outside. •Must be initiative-taking and prompt in performing tasks. •Must successfully pass Diocesan background screening and Safe Environment Training. WORKING CONDITIONS The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and at weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing 15 feet and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (30 pounds). Exposure to climate changes, uncomfortable temperatures, and fumes. Works with machinery requiring considerable caution.
