Summary (Position Description): A facilities maintenance technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs on a facilitys mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other systems, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting/correcting issues and coordinating with outside contractors to ensure all aspects of a facility remain in good working condition. Their duties require skills in mechanics, HVAC systems (gas fired boilers, heat pumps, chillers), industrial electrical power, lighting, fire protection, plumbing, carpentry and general building maintenance. The work of a facilities maintenance technician at BITZER will be diverse in all aspects of corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance in a manufacturing environment with specialized equipment and processes. They are expected to work safely and to comply with OSHA and EPA guidelines and regulations.
Reports To: Facilities Maintenance Manager
Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
Duties and Tasks:
Perform routine maintenance on interior and exterior of the entire facility
Perform preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
Use variety of hand and power tools, electrical meters, welders and material handling devices
Properly diagnose, repair and validate operation of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems
Read and interpret maintenance service manuals, schematic diagrams and blueprints
Maintain integrity of CMMS system by properly completing and documenting work orders
Detect faulty operation of equipment, use of defective material, and resolve deficiencies
Perform a variety of plumbing and carpentry repairs
Provide emergency support of urgent repairs outside of normal work hours
Comply with OSHA and EPA regulations
Work in a safe manner and take appropriate action to ensure safety of themselves and others
Maintain a clean and orderly work area
Perform other duties as assigned by management

Preferred Qualifications:
Able to read and interpret maintenance and service manuals, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
Able to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
Strong and effective communication and organizational skills
Basic knowledge of CMMS systems
Basic knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E electrical standards and codes
Basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines and regulations
General knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel
General knowledge of 5S principles and good housekeeping practices
Requirements:
High school diploma with 10-15 years of experience in facilities maintenance or related field
Advanced knowledge of mechanical, high/low voltage single/three phase electrical, and HVAC systems
Intermediate knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and boiler systems
Excited to be part of a cross-functional team, self-motivated, energetic, and willing to learn
Detail oriented, thorough, and meticulous
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The work environment may be noisy. Proper personal protection equipment is provided.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. This position requires that the employee be on their feet for the majority of the work day.
