Job Description :

The University of Maine at Machias is accepting applications for a Facilities Maintenance Worker CL1. Responsibilities include cleaning of campus, including daily, weekly, monthly, and other cyclical tasks according to a managed cleaning task-specific program that is assessed on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to ensure cleanliness if maintained. The position plays an important role in ensuring the health and safety of the campus community. It is part of the UMM Facilities team that is responsible for making the campus presentable for current and future students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position pays $16.79/hr. Work Schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Maintains facilities and grounds which may include mowing; weed removal; trimming trees; picking-up litter; sweeping; mopping; making minor building repairs; moving furniture and equipment; and/or performing related duties.

* Operates and maintains a variety of vehicles, equipment and tools; completes routine maintenance on equipment, tools, and vehicles. May work with materials and chemicals associated with cleaning.

* Reports maintenance issues and equipment failures as appropriate.

* Maintains inventory levels within assigned area of responsibility.

* Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Qualifications:

Required:

* High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)

* Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, grasping, standing, and repetitive motions.

* Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with members of the Student & Residence Life staff, UMM administration, and the campus community (especially students).

* The ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
